The Academy Award® nominated A Cat in Paris from directors Jean-Loup Felicioli and Alain Gagnol is a beautifully hand-drawn caper set in the shadow-drenched alleyways of Paris. Dino is a cat that leads a double life. By day he lives with Zoe, a little girl whose mother is a detective in the Parisian police force. But at night Dino sneaks out the window to work with Nico – a slinky cat burglar with a big heart, whose fluid movements are poetry in motion as he evades captors and slips and swishes from rooftop to rooftop across the Paris skyline. This family friendly film is English dubbed featuring Angelica Huston, Matthew Modine and Marcia Gay Harden.

The second film, The Red Balloon has been a grade school staple for generations. This classic short film by Albert Lamorisse, is a love letter to Paris that elegantly captures the adventures of a boy who befriends a seemingly sentient balloon that follows him through the Paris streets.

This FREE film screening is made possible through a partnership with the College of Central Florida’s Ira Holmes International Film Series, which seeks to educate and inspire through films that are culturally, historically, and artistically important. The late CF Professor, Ira Holmes, is the founder of the series and an advocate for maintaining the Marion Theatre as a downtown destination for films.
